Projects and Tasks that are Fun For Me!
Performing the same tasks day in and day out can get incredibly monotonous. So when MVS was started, it was important to only offer administrative tasks that are enjoyable. As my clientele has increasingly grown in the nonprofit sector, so have my skills.
Here’s a short list of projects and tasks that I consider fun!
- Teaching Google, Microsoft and other applications
- Creating “How To” video tutorials
- Researching nonprofit grant funders and donor prospects
- Compiling research into a database
- Creating image graphics for social media
Recently, a local nonprofit contacted me to research grants for his organization. I was able to locate over 200 foundations offering grants for his organization’s particular subject area and population. Within this treasure trove of data included funders total assets and giving, who is on their board, application dates, deadlines and more. A reverse search was also done on peer organizations. Finding their funders felt like hitting the jackpot as this insight will be immensely useful.
A former client has referred to my grant research as “sleuthing” abilities. Yeah, that’s about right, because it aptly describes the feeling. There’s a bit of mystery in what will be discovered and the excitement knowing that the data holds possibilities for my client’s ability to impact their constituents and change lives. It’s satisfying to know that I get to be a tiny part of that!
